Bauhaus typography

At the Bauhaus, a simplified form of writing was developed from the basic shapes (circle, triangle, square) in addition to objects and buildings. With the help of stencils and special paper, we will design our names in this workshop. The children do not necessarily have to be able to write their own names yet.

Party with Bauhaus dolls

At the Bauhaus, in addition to work, there was one thing above all: celebrating! And under crazy mottos like "Metallic Feast", "White Feast" and "Dipped, Thrown, Striped". So in this workshop, we'll make crazy party outfits out of paper, feathers, glitter stones and other materials and dress them up like the Bauhaus people who designed the Bundesschule in Bernau.

The Trade Union School made of Lego

In the Lego workshop, we work according to the "Coop principle" in the spirit of the architect of the Trade Union School, the Bauhaus director Hannes Meyer. "Coop" comes from "cooperation" and means "working together". In the visitor center, we look at the architectural model of the Trade Union School and the Teachers' Houses. What has changed since they were built in 1930? And then we build!

Workshops starting from 10 years

Bauhaus jewelry based on Anni Albers

In her diploma thesis at the Bauhaus, Anni Albers developed a wall hanging fabric for the auditorium of the Trade Union School in Bernau. A masterpiece in its own right! Sound-absorbing from one side, light-reflecting from the other. It was to become her ticket to the U.S. to escape imminent danger from the Nazis as a Jew. Inspired by indigenous jewelry from Peru and Mexico, she designed a collection there using the simplest of household items such as washers and ribbon. In this workshop we will design our own jewelry based on Anni Albers' creations.

Duration: approx. 1 hour
Price: 4 EUR per person

Photo safari - Looking for letters on the World Heritage

In our photo safari, we take you to the grounds of the UNESCO World Heritage Bauhaus in Bernau! Using tablets, we will photograph letters that can only be discovered in the buildings on the campus if you look closely. The bicycle stands remind you of an M? Photograph them! There's an X in the window? Take a picture! At the end, we will compile your discoveries in a PowerPoint presentation that you can later publish on your school homepage. We are curious to see if you can find all the letters of the alphabet!

Duration: approx. 1 hour
Price: 3 EUR per person
